A Little Emotional

This May, I have a new picture book coming out, called A Little Emotional.

Here’s the tag:

Emotions can be unruly, as kids will discover in this funny, conversation-starting book by the bestselling illustrator of Ordinary People Change the World.

Tommy’s favorite toy is missing, and so is his Happiness. In fact, he has gotten a little Worried. And then Angry. And as he searches for the toy, that emotion grows into Full-Blown Anger that eventually . . . explodes! And that’s when he sees his little sister playing with her toys. And he can’t help but get Jealous. And Sad.

His emotions keep lurking and looming like colorful monsters. What will it take to get them under control?

  1. I work at a Library. I’m not sure if you know about CSLP – Collaborative Summer Library Program. A lot of Libraries use this as a help or guide to have as their Summer Reading theme. This year the theme is “Color Our World”
I’m thinking about going with an approach on emotions and how they color our world. I just received your book with dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, And I love it! I plan to use your book as our theme for our library! If you are planning to do more I would love to know. The book is so great!
    thank you!

    • Hey, Nicole! Thanks! So nice to hear you’re going to use the book! I can’t say if there will be another Emotional book…unless I think up a good story. But, I’m continuing to work on other books of my own. Can’t wait to hear how the theme works out for you!

  2. Hi There, I am writing from our orphanage in Guatemala. We could really benefit from your book in Spanish. Is it translated yet? If so where can we get copies. John Jessup RN, MPH

  3. Just wanted to say thank you. My almost-4-year-old received your book through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. It has quickly become her favorite and we’ve read it what feels like a thousand times already. Definitely interested in sequels!

    • Thanks so much! So nice to hear! I hope there will be a sequel as well. It all depends on the publisher and any idea I come up with.
